Flatiron via Siphon Draw is the hike everyone in the Phoenix area seems to have on their list. It's a challenging six miles round trip with 2,600+ feet of gain that sounds tame until the trail basically disappears and turns into a scramble up loose, slick rock and granite boulders. As someone who loves to scramble, this is one of my favorite trails in the valley. The trail begins as a meandering path through the desert before rising straight up through a canyon steeped in Lost Dutchman's gold-mine lore before topping out on Flatiron's flat summit slab to a 360-degree view that makes the whole grind worth it. These are the moments from that climb.
Afterward, I hit up Goldfield Ghost Town for a steak to refuel after the strenuous hike.
